Name: Eve
Canon: Nier: Automata
Canon Point: Between the fight with 9S and 2B in the alien mothership and 2B's battle with Adam in the Copied City (essentially right before Adam's death).
Age: Looks like a college frat boy, is actually just a few months old.
Spoken language(s): English and Japanese. He also knows an in-universe language called Angelic.
Username: Eve
To the Mods: Eve is a machine lifeform, thus he requires no food, water, sleep, nor medical attention in the event he sustains injuries. He also doesn't carry weapons nor sentimental affects on his person, but feel free to take any number of his clothes - he wasn't very keen on them anyway.
History: Here's his wiki page!
Personality: When we're first introduced to Eve, he's climbing out of the torso of his injured "brother", his hair hanging in his face, and when he's free he unleashes a feral cry that causes the area around him to collapse. From that moment onward it's made clear that Eve is the more impulsive and bestial one of the pair. It's likely he would simply get by on whim alone if not for his brother, Adam, who impresses the importance of education on him, even if Eve doesn't quite understand why, and only does as much to please his brother, not through any interest of his own.
He frequently comes off as impetuous and immature, expressing behavior like that of an eager child, easily becoming bored (demonstrated in his slumped posture when they're seated at their dining table) and often asking his brother to play with him in exchange for doing as Adam wishes. Although playing is...generally doing more of what Adam wishes, but with physical activity mixed in, which is what Eve prefers to the more sophisticated pursuits his brother puts him on. Some of his more childlike mannerisms come out here, as his brother's promises to play are met with responses like "Really? Then I'll try extra EXTRA hard!" accompanied by Eve sitting up excitedly in his seat.
As an additional element to the above, he also isn't a very elegant speaker, and sounds stilted when he tries. But that betrays his intelligence - Eve isn't stupid, and is actually extremely self-aware. He's therefore cognizant to the fact his brother cares about his personal goals far more than he cares about Eve himself, but Eve chooses to support Adam anyway, recognizing his importance to his brother regardless. His questions to his brother are also pertinent - why do they need clothes, why do they need to eat, why do they need to read? As machines they require no decency, no organic sustenance, and are able to download any knowledge they could ever need instantly by virtue of the immense network critical to the machine lifeforms' collective intelligence, which spans thousands of years. Regardless, his concessions to his brother's explanations are never through logical debate, but through a simple desire to please Adam. Human customs otherwise hold no meaning to him. Why would they? He's a proud machine. And possibly a tad lazy, since Adam's requests are "work", if doing what Eve wants is to "play", since he doesn't count intellectual pursuits as play. Indeed, their one shared idea of fun is to kill androids, also known as their natural enemy. They even decorated their playground with android corpses!! Nice fellows, these guys.
Beyond appeasing Adam, Eve acts very much on emotion. He comes off as a calm individual most of the time past his introduction, but, at his canon point in particular, he's fresh from skewering YoRHa Unit 9S, done in retribution for harming Adam in their previous bout. It's a very vengeful act, and it's clearly personal to Eve that 9S be punished, and it's likely he would have killed 9S if Adam didn't need the boy to draw out his partner. This is further illustrated past his canon point, where, following his brother's death, his emotions pour out uncontrollably. His slow attempt to process his brother's painful demise turns physical, with Eve writhing and bashing his own head repeatedly against their table. Later, his sadness pours out into the machine network, his anguished cries over his brother's death escaping into the voices of machines from all over. At the climax, the tattoos that once decorated his arm climb across his skin until they completely obscure him in black, visually depicting how he has been completely consumed with grief and rage. To him, a world without his brother - a world where he is doomed to be alone forever - is meaningless.
Indeed, Eve depends on Adam almost entirely, and is rarely seen separate from his brother. Of course, being of the same body, they are essentially two halves of the same coin. They're also one of a kind among the machine lifeforms, and both of them are keenly aware of this, though Adam seeks guidance for his existence elsewhere, while Eve recognizes that they only have each other, and so they must depend on one another. His answer to living is far more simple than his brother's, then, a reflection of Eve himself.
Without the balance of his other half, Eve by himself is aimless at best and destructive at worst. To a mild degree in this instance, at least.
Abilities/Skills: Eve is more than six feet tall and weighs over five hundred pounds, despite what his appearance would suggest regarding the latter. Basically, he's a big guy, and can stonewall the average person just by existing in front of them. And as a machine lifeform molded from a silicon-based material that boasts impressive mass, he's highly durable too, even more so when it comes to the machine network, which will regenerate him endlessly as long as he's connected to it. However, he's separated from said network in the Quiet Place, so that ability is completely closed off to him. He will be very aware of this and not like it one bit. This also means whatever was on his personal database is all he has left as far as knowledge goes, and as demonstrated by his conversations with Adam, his understanding of humans is inherently poor, and so too will his understanding be of his new environment. He will be a social disaster.
For combat, meanwhile, he boasts energy shields to block physical attacks and a similar barrier to stymie projectiles, and his preferred means of attack is pure melee infused with golden ribbons of that same energy, with the added boon of short-range teleportation. This golden energy can manifest in other ways as well.
Additionally, as a machine, Eve surpasses the average human in all tangible aspects and exhibits great physical prowess and ability as a result, but will still die to extremely decisive wounds...such as a sword through his skull. Or his chest. Or anywhere else critical. Basically a powerful hit meant to kill, because cutting his arm off will just not do. Though, you could make him look like the Venus de Milo for fun!
Fortunately, he's very unlikely to attack unless provoked. He doesn't have any inclination to be gentle either, though. Eve does what he wants, when he feels like it, basically. Unless Adam directs him to do otherwise. And Adam isn't here!
Samples: His test drive has both!!
